It is minted by users sending CELO or other reserve assets to the protocol, with those assets held as collateral in the Mento Reserve. Users can burn cUSD by redeeming it for its equivalent value in CELO, creating arbitrage opportunities that help maintain the peg through algorithmic supply adjustments.
