FBI: North Korea Responsible for Over $6 Billion Binance Hack

on November 1, according to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), North Korea is responsible for the theft of over $6 billion in virtual assets from Binance around October 29. The FBI has dubbed the related cyber activity "TraderTraitor".

The FBI stated that, in coordination with the U.S. Secret Service and the IRS Criminal Investigation division, they observed that the perpetrators primarily converted the stolen assets into ETH, expecting further laundering to take place through DeFi and instant exchange services.

The three agencies have called on node operators, instant exchange platforms, DeFi services, and other virtual asset service providers to block transactions associated with or originating from the compromised addresses listed in the notice.
