CNN: The Democratic Party leadership is full of confidence in taking the House of Representatives
According to CNN, senior House Democrats believe they will take control of the House tonight and have a more solid majority advantage than the slim majority currently held by Speaker Mike Johnson.
House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries is reluctant to jump to conclusions, stating that the Democrats can secure at least 218 seats to achieve a majority. Two Democratic insiders revealed that they believe the Democrats could ultimately win between 230 and 235 seats; if there is a landslide victory, the Democrats might win as many as 240 seats, but they believe the likelihood of that happening is much lower than the 230 to 235 seats.
Jeffries is being more cautious. According to an informed source, Jeffries departed from New York to Washington, D.C. that day and had lunch with party officials. The crab shack where they dined is the same one where Democrats ate on Election Day in 2018, when Democrats last won control of the House during President Trump's term, gaining 41 seats.
