Base Mainnet goes live with Denim upgrade, reducing block intervals to 200 milliseconds.
on November 6, according to The Block, Base’s fourth standalone network upgrade, Denim, has launched on the mainnet. The network now generates one complete canonical block every 200 milliseconds, equating to 5 blocks per second.
This upgrade deactivates Flashblocks, requiring applications that previously relied on the feature to migrate to standard block subscriptions. Denim also introduces BaseTime, enabling smart contracts to access millisecond-precision timestamps, while updating transfer restrictions and compliance controls for B20 tokens.
