The Trump administration's equity portfolio spans over 40 companies with about $30 billion invested
Odaily: Since Trump began his second term, Washington has announced 43 transactions involving stocks or warrants, covering more than 40 companies. Warrants allow holders to obtain equity under agreed conditions in the future.
According to estimates by the Council on Foreign Relations, the related transactions involve approximately $30 billion in capital. The investments range from semiconductors and critical minerals to quantum computing, and another transaction involves a company competing for Venezuelan oil business, in which the U.S. government acquired a 35% stake.
Intel (INTC) is one of the most closely watched investments. In August 2025, the U.S. government acquired a 9.9% stake in the chipmaker for approximately $8.9 billion. As Intel's stock price surged, the market value of the government's stake once rose to $61 billion, but recent market sell-offs pushed it down to approximately $41 billion.
This means that the paper performance of the government's equity portfolio may fluctuate significantly with market conditions. At the same time, many transactions also come with loans, supply agreements, or other special arrangements, and the legal authorization basis for some transaction structures has not yet been fully tested.
