Odaily: Liao Yijian, Co-Chief Executive of HSBC Asia and Middle East, announced that HSBC will establish a global AI research institute in Hong Kong, expected to begin operations in early 2027. It will initially focus on AI use cases, blockchain technology, and post-quantum cryptography. He revealed that HSBC currently has a 150-person AI specialist team in Hong Kong and expects the team to double in size within the next two to three years. (Caixin)
