Circle will reduce limits for the legacy USDC cross-chain protocol CCTP V1 starting October 31, and suspend contracts on December 1.
on October 30, according to The Defiant, Circle plans to gradually reduce the burn limits for the legacy Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol CCTP V1 starting October 31, 2026, and will suspend the related contracts on December 1. After this date, USDC cross-chain transfers will no longer be possible via the legacy route. The new CCTP (originally CCTP V2) utilizes independent contracts and APIs, is not backward compatible, and applications, wallets, and bridging services using the legacy version must proactively update their integrations. Circle stated it will retain sufficient minting quotas to ensure that attested pending transfers are completed prior to the suspension, but specific limit tiers and interim adjustment dates have not yet been disclosed.
Additionally, the Noble chain will not integrate with the new CCTP, and Circle plans to suspend its USDC contract and remaining cross-chain routes on January 12, 2027. Holders on Noble must transfer out their USDC before this time. Circle will snapshot the remaining balances on the day of suspension and initiate manual redemptions starting January 13. Applicants must satisfy compliance and security requirements, and assets must be held in self-custody wallets.
