Israeli Prime Minister proposes using cryptocurrency to counter potential sanctions, faces criticism from Israel's central bank and others.
on October 26, Reuters stated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced criticism from economists and political opponents after proposing the use of cryptocurrency to help Israel's economy respond to potential international sanctions. In an interview with Israel's Channel 10 last Friday, Netanyahu said he is preparing for a scenario in which Israel could face broader sanctions.
The report noted that the Bank of Israel also criticized the proposal. Previously, the UK, France, and Canada had announced in September that they would ban imports of goods from Israeli settlements in the West Bank, reflecting the diplomatic strain between Israel and some of its traditional allies.
