Stellar Ecosystem Wallet Freighter Renamed to Varial, Adds App Discovery and Token Swap Features

on October 29, according to an official Stellar announcement, the original Stellar network wallet Freighter was officially renamed to Varial, shifting its focus to helping users discover and use applications within the Stellar ecosystem. The new wallet introduces a Discover application directory, token swaps, price charts, and NFT management features, and provides malicious transaction protection through Blockaid. Officials noted that user private keys remain stored locally on devices, and the wallet itself charges no fees.

Subsequently, Varial also plans to launch an Earn feature, initially supporting position management for Blend DeFi. It will also partner with Lightsail to develop cross-chain deposit addresses, enabling users to transfer USDC from EVM wallets.
