South Korean citizens prefer allowing AI to use personal information under a "prior notice and opt-out anytime" mechanism.

on November 5, according to Yonhap News Agency, the results of a public discussion released by South Korea's Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Personal Information Protection Commission indicate that among 195 participants across 25 discussion groups, 20 groups (80%) supported adopting an "advance notice and right to refuse at any time" mechanism for AI use of personal information, rather than seeking separate consent prior to each use. Following the discussion, support for this mechanism rose from 46.2% to 56.4%, while support for obtaining separate consent each time fell from 47.7% to 41%.

Additionally, 75.4% of respondents stated that enterprises should bear responsibility for risk assessment and protection of personal information, while 74.9% emphasized that the government should be responsible for establishing standards and overseeing enforcement. The South Korean Personal Information Protection Commission plans to incorporate both public and expert feedback to formulate a reform plan for the personal information system by the end of the year.
