SpaceX completes $40 billion GPU debt financing, related chips expected to be delivered in the first half of next year.

on October 26, Musk stated SpaceX has completed $40 billion in debt financing to procure GPUs supporting artificial intelligence systems, with the relevant equipment expected to arrive in the first and second quarters of 2027.

Previously, Bloomberg reported that SpaceX is seeking to raise $40 billion to purchase Nvidia chips and plans to finance the transaction through a special purpose vehicle to avoid having the associated debt directly recorded on SpaceX’s balance sheet. Goldman Sachs is reportedly leading financing negotiations with investors including Apollo Global Management.

Musk also noted that the current debt market has tightened significantly, raising financing barriers for companies that lack stable revenue streams outside of AI data centers. He predicts that more than 200 so-called “new cloud” companies could face mass closures and industry consolidation in the coming period, leaving only a handful to survive.
