US CFTC Resumes Investigation into Polymarket to Review Whether It Violated 2022 Settlement Agreement
According to TechFlow, on October 28, Reuters reported that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is investigating whether prediction market platform Polymarket violated a settlement agreement reached in 2022 by failing to effectively block U.S. users from accessing its overseas platform. The investigation covers user geolocation identification mechanisms, U.S.-based advertising campaigns, and the user registration process and customer protection measures for its U.S. platform. The agency had previously concluded the related investigation in 2025 without bringing charges against the company. Both Polymarket and the CFTC declined to comment. The report noted that a regulatory investigation does not necessarily imply wrongdoing, nor will it necessarily lead to enforcement actions.
