Threshold Network: tBTC minting and redemption suspended, asset reserves are sufficient and no financial losses have occurred

According to Threshold Network, the minting and redemption of tBTC has been temporarily suspended, and there are still sufficient assets to support it, with no financial losses reported. The cross-chain bridge wallet holds approximately 4,320 BTC, while the circulating tBTC is about 4,185. No unauthorized minting or Bitcoin transfer records have been found.

Regarding the recently disclosed Linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2026-98432, this vulnerability may allow attackers to execute code remotely on unpatched servers. All tBTC node operators have completed server patching or temporarily shut down their nodes while waiting for the fixed version to be released. The team has not found evidence that this vulnerability has been used to attack tBTC nodes.

Additionally, one node operator reported another security incident unrelated to the aforementioned kernel vulnerability, resulting in approximately 0.5 ETH being transferred from its Ethereum account used for paying transaction fees for its tBTC node. At the time, the node was offline, and the operator did not find evidence that the signing key materials were accessed. Threshold Network stated that Bitcoin transactions in the tBTC wallet require signatures from a majority of independent operators, and a single operator cannot transfer funds alone. The cross-chain bridge will reopen once security maintenance is completed and nodes are back online on the patched system. The team will provide the next update within 24 hours and will update earlier if the situation changes.
