Trump: Monitoring the Binance hacking incident, uncertain if North Korea was behind it.
on October 31, according to Bloomberg, US President Donald Trump stated he is monitoring the Binance hack.
According to live C-SPAN footage, when Trump responded to reporters on October 30 local time while meeting a US citizen previously detained by Russia in the White House Oval Office, and was asked whether the attack should be attributed to a North Korean hacking group, he said, "We don't know, we are investigating this."
When asked whether the stolen funds could be recovered, Trump said that Binance promised to recover them and made assurances, "They said they basically have the situation under control," but he also noted that actual funds are no longer visible, and he has always felt this is "a bit risky."
TechFlow previously reported that Binance suffered a security incident this week affecting approximately $6.3 billion in assets, which on-chain analytics firms such as TRM Labs attributed to the North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor.
