Kraken's parent company Payward and its clients purchase AAVE tokens, expanding their DeFi investment layout

According to CoinDesk, Kraken's parent company Payward and its asset management clients have purchased an undisclosed number of AAVE tokens through the secondary market, further expanding their presence in the decentralized finance (DeFi) and asset management sectors.

This purchase was completed through Payward's affiliated investment fund Digital Asset Special Investments I, LP, and its asset management clients. Payward indicated that it may continue to increase its holdings of AAVE in the future.

Payward and Aave are also exploring future collaboration opportunities. Sources say that Payward chose to buy tokens from the secondary market rather than directly from Aave, reflecting the synergy of interests between the two parties and paving the way for subsequent cooperation.

CoinDesk previously reported in June that the two parties had discussed a transaction involving 250,000 AAVE tokens and a 15% equity stake in Aave Group, with a valuation of $385 million at that time, but this announcement did not mention the equity transaction.
