Palantir CEO: The Real Risk of AI Lies with Developers, Not AI Itself

on November 3, according to Yonhap News Agency, Palantir CEO Alex Karp stated in a letter to shareholders released alongside the third-quarter earnings report on November 2 (local time) that while the alignment problem indeed exists, the real issue is not aligning the objectives of technological products with human interests, but rather aligning the goals of AI developers and customer interests with the public interest.

The report interprets this to mean that rather than fearing AI agents turning hostile toward humanity, greater vigilance should be directed toward large AI developers such as Anthropic and OpenAI pursuing self-serving goals. Karp has previously criticized AI developers for attempting to absorb enterprise clients' core data and "alpha" (technical advantages) into their own AI systems.
