Arkansas Sues Kalshi, Accusing It of Operating an Illegal Gambling Platform
on Nov. 5, according to a statement from the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, State Attorney General Tim Griffin has filed a lawsuit against KalshiEX LLC and Kalshi Inc., the operators of the prediction market Kalshi, accusing them of operating an illegal gambling platform within the state in violation of the state's Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
Griffin stated that Kalshi lacked the necessary licenses for gambling operations in the state, opened its platform to consumers including individuals as young as 18, and encouraged them to place real-money bets on sports and entertainment events for profit. The state is seeking remedies such as damages, fines, taxes, and injunctions.
