SEC Staff Issues No-Action Letter Regarding Canton Coin Minting

TechFlow reported that on November 4, according to disclosures by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Division of Corporation Finance, the division issued a no-action letter concerning the programmatic minting of Canton Coin. Under the manner and conditions set forth in the application, if super validators, validators, and application providers mint the token, the staff will not recommend any enforcement action to the Commission, even without registration under relevant securities law provisions.

Based on the applicant's representations, the division has determined that Canton Coin is a digital commodity, specifically noting that its value derives from the network's programmatic operation and supply and demand, and that there is no defined central party within the network. This letter merely reflects the staff's enforcement posture and does not constitute a legal conclusion; a change in facts or conditions may lead to a different conclusion.
