Video generation foundational model company Sand.ai completes $200 million Series A+ funding round, bringing cumulative funding to $300 million over 10 months
According to TechFlow, on November 6, Sina Technology reported that video generation foundation model company Sand.ai (Sandai Tech) announced the completion of a $200 million Series A+ financing round. This is the company's third financing round completed in 2026, with a cumulative total of $300 million raised over 10 months. The round was jointly led by Genesis Capital and Wangsu Technology, with participation from Shidai Capital, Panlin Capital, Dongzheng Capital, and others. Tiangchuang Capital joined alongside Shandong Tiechuang Touzi and the Shandong Railway Fund as strategic investors, while Shanghai Pudong Venture Capital, Shanghai Guofang, and other state-backed institutions from Shanghai also participated. Existing investors such as Matrix Partners China, Huaye Tiancheng, and Zhongke Chuangxing continued to increase their stakes.
The proceeds will be primarily allocated to the research and development of video foundation models, infrastructure for training and inference, product iteration, and global market expansion. The official release of the company's next-generation MoE architecture video generation foundation model, MAGI-2, which features a larger parameter scale, is also expected to launch shortly.
In August this year, Sand.ai released and open-sourced the MAGI-2 Preview. The model boasts a total of approximately 114 billion parameters and activates around 6 billion parameters per forward pass. Following distillation, the inference cost for generating a 10-second 1080P video is reduced to just 0.5 yuan. Upon its release, the model ranked sixth globally on the image-to-video chart of third-party benchmarking platform Artificial Analysis. Furthermore, the company's video generation product, VidMuse, surpassed an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $10 million within two months of launch.
As the largest financial investor in this round, Genesis Capital has previously invested in artificial intelligence companies such as CXMT, SenseTime, and 4Paradigm.
