Bitcoin payment coverage expands to over 4 million merchants, Square expects deployment to be completed by November 10

Bitcoin News posted on X that Jack Dorsey's Square is expected to complete its phased rollout by November 10, expanding Bitcoin payments to its network of over 4 million merchants. The deployment began on March 30, and eligible U.S. merchants will have Bitcoin payments automatically enabled without needing to apply. Customers can pay via the Lightning Network, with transactions settling within seconds; merchants receive funds in USD by default, with the option to retain Bitcoin. Square will waive Bitcoin payment processing fees until December 31, 2026, after which a flat 1% fee will apply; merchants can also automatically convert up to 50% of daily sales revenue into Bitcoin.
