South Korean National Assembly Speaker Meets UK Ambassador: Hopes to Strengthen Cooperation in Future Industries Such as AI and Energy

on October 27, according to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik met with UK Ambassador to South Korea Colin Crooks at the National Assembly, and the two sides discussed the development of future industries between the two countries, as well as plans for inter-parliamentary exchange and cooperation. Cho stated, “I hope the outcomes of the negotiations to improve the Korea-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), reached last year, will take effect as soon as possible. I look forward to close cooperation between the two countries in future industry fields such as artificial intelligence and offshore wind power.”

Crooks responded, “We expect to sign the free trade agreement within the next one or two months this year, and hope that the agreement’s ratification will be processed swiftly once submitted to the South Korean National Assembly.”
