Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has donated at least $22.5 million to U.S. midterm elections, focusing on AI regulation and clean energy.

on November 2, according to Business Insider, Ripple co-founder and executive chairman Chris Larsen has donated at least $22.5 million to federal candidates and super political action committees (Super PACs) during the 2026 U.S. midterm election cycle, becoming one of the top individual donors in the technology sector for this election cycle.

Of that amount, Larsen donated $6 million to Tomorrow Coalition PAC, which supports renewable energy, and contributed more than $4 million to a Super PAC backing Alex Bores, an advocate for AI safety legislation. Expressing concern over the rapid pace of AI development and inadequate regulation, Larsen called for a pause on the construction of new AI infrastructure until appropriate regulatory guidelines are established.
