Supreme People's Procuratorate: A criminal gang illegally sold job seekers' personal information abroad, with all涉案funds settled entirely in virtual currency.
According to TechFlow, on November 2, an announcement on the WeChat Official Account of the Supreme People's Procuratorate revealed that one of the typical cases published by the procuratorate regarding the lawful protection of citizens' personal information shows that Lin Moufeng and 20 others illegally obtained job seekers' personal information through fraudulent recruitment campaigns and sold it overseas, totaling more than 870,000 records. The involved amount exceeded 7.46 million yuan, all settled in cryptocurrency and subsequently converted into RMB by Ning Mou.
In May 2024, Lin Moufeng learned that applicant information could be sold overseas for profit while participating in corporate recruitment, prompting him to register corporate accounts on online job platforms and publish fraudulent job postings to collect such data. As the acquisition volume remained low and accounts were frequently banned by the platforms, he recruited other defendants to form a front-end lead generation team and a back-end data team. The front-end team impersonated job seekers to contact HR staff at other companies, luring them to use corporate accounts to illegally obtain applicant information. The back-end team provided information collection templates to these bribed HR workers and aggregated and organized the purchased data.
