Kraken parent company Payward plans to deploy a CFTC-regulated perpetual futures market through Hyperliquid.
on October 27, Hyperliquid officially announced that Payward, the parent company of Kraken, plans to utilize Hyperliquid as underlying infrastructure to deploy perpetual contract markets for US users, becoming the first institution to launch CFTC-regulated trading products on a HIP-3* market. The specific arrangement remains subject to regulatory approval.
Under the plan, Bitnomial, a CFTC-regulated trading venue and clearing firm under Payward, will be responsible for creating, operating, and managing the relevant markets, as well as conducting contract clearing and settlement; its registered futures commission merchant, NinjaTrader Clearing, will manage client accounts.
Hyperliquid stated that HIP-3* will support permissioned market deployments through an on-chain permit list mechanism. An initial version has already been deployed on the testnet, and the relevant specifications may still be adjusted based on feedback. This feature is an optional extension of HIP-3 and will not affect existing markets.
