on November 2, according to Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper, South Korean tax authorities have decided to classify US stock-linked perpetual contracts traded on overseas cryptocurrency exchanges as overseas equity derivatives, imposing an 11% capital gains tax on related investment income starting in 2027, which is half the 22% rate applied to direct US stock investments.
The new regulations apply to US stock-linked perpetual contracts offered by overseas exchanges such as Binance, covering those linked to Nvidia, Apple, and Tesla.
