Proposal to optimize Solana's Associated Token Account program has been merged.
on November 2, according to the Solana Improvement Proposals repository, the SIMD-0567 proposal to optimize the Associated Token Account program has been merged. The proposal aims to replace the existing program with a Pinocchio-based p-ATA implementation while maintaining compatibility with the existing instruction interface.
The proposal estimates that, weighted by instruction usage frequency, p-ATA will reduce compute unit consumption by an average of 81% compared to the original program, with total network compute unit consumption expected to drop by approximately 10% to 11%. The proposal remains under review, and merging it does not mean the program has been deployed.
