The Compound proposal seeks to revoke the community multisig's authority to cancel proposals following controversy over its cancellation of Proposal 618.
According to TechFlow, on October 26, the Compound Governance Forum indicated that the proposal submitted by community member Humpy, titled "Terminate Community Multisig Cancellation Rights," has entered a pending on-chain status. The proposal intends to invoke the setProposalGuardian function of the Governor contract to set the expiration of the cancellation rights for the community multisig (0xbbf3…012c, 5-of-9 signature threshold) to 00:00 UTC on November 1, 2026 (timestamp 1793491200), while retaining its Pause Guardian authority to pause markets.
According to the proposal description, on October 22, five signers from the community multisig (Cylon, Gauntlet, Arr00, PGov, Zeroshadow) canceled Proposal 618 ahead of the voting period. The proposal sought to transfer the $5 million EPCF fund to the community multisig. Humpy stated that the proposal fulfilled all on-chain requirements, contained no malicious code, and did not pose a security threat.
The proposal also notes that the Compound Foundation previously paid consulting fees to two of the signers, Arr00 and Cylon, raising potential conflicts of interest. Furthermore, Proposal 538, passed in February this year, had already extended this cancellation right by four years, with the original expiry set for September 12, 2026. The proposal cites forum discussions claiming the Foundation swapped 8.42 million v2 DAI reserves for 344,780 COMP tokens and delegated voting power to its own voting address. All of the aforementioned information constitutes only the unilateral claims of the proposal's author.
