Ripple CEO: XRP Poised to Become the "Gold Standard" for Institutional Crypto Rails Within Five Years
on November 02, citing Bitcoin.com, that Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse stated in a video released at the Swell Conference on October 28 that XRP will continue to serve as the "gold standard" for institutional-grade crypto payment channels over the next five years. He noted that Ripple has expanded from its payments business into corporate treasury management and prime brokerage services, with XRP acting as one of its foundational underlying technologies. Ripple board member and honorary retired CTO David Schwartz added that blockchain technology will eventually become as pervasive as the internet, becoming the primary means for the public to manage capital, receive payments, invest, and borrow.
Garlinghouse stated that Ripple will prioritize using XRP in appropriate scenarios, though certain transactions are better suited for fiat currencies or Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD. He explained that approximately half of RLUSD issuance occurs on the XRP Ledger, injecting liquidity and trading volume into the network. He also noted that XRP can function as a bridge asset between different currency pairs.
