CFTC: Single-stock perpetual futures can be traded on qualifying U.S. exchanges
on November 3, according to an announcement by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), single-stock perpetual futures contracts may begin trading for the first time at eligible U.S. exchanges. Applicable trading venues must be CFTC-designated contract markets and simultaneously national securities exchanges registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as tradeable security futures products.
CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig stated that these contracts are considered approved security futures products under relevant rules, and must comply with the Commodity Exchange Act, U.S. federal securities laws, and the regulatory frameworks of the CFTC and SEC.
