Anthropic awarded a $13.7 billion computing power mega-deal to a Trump-linked company, and can buy 51 million shares for 1 cent.
动察 Beating AI News Flash: The Information, citing people familiar with the matter, reports that Anthropic has signed a 6-year, $13.7 billion computing power contract with Rum Group to lease a data center it is building in Georgia. Rum Group is the former parent company of Rumble, whose video platform has long been popular among American conservatives, and Truth Social also runs on Rumble Cloud. Rumble's early investors also include Peter Thiel and Narya Capital, co-founded by J.D. Vance.
The deal also comes with a rare stock clause. Rum Group granted this client warrants for up to about 50.8 million shares at an exercise price of only $0.01 per share, but they will vest gradually as Anthropic actually purchases computing power. Rum Group's 8-K filed with the SEC last month already confirmed this $13.7 billion contract and the warrants, though it did not disclose the client's identity at the time.
Rum Group originally focused mainly on the Rumble video platform. Only after acquiring German cloud computing company Northern Data this year did it formally shift aggressively toward AI infrastructure, and it currently owns about 22,000 H100/H200 chips. If this Anthropic contract is finalized, it will become its largest order since pivoting to AI cloud services.
