ElevenLabs Music v2.5 launches: free tier also gets commercial rights, 5 lossless downloads per day

Beating AI News: ElevenLabs has launched Music v2.5 and set it as the default model for ElevenMusic. The new version focuses on improving melody, arrangement layering, and instrument realism. The company had v2 and v2.5 each generate a version using the same prompts and conducted 47,885 blind tests, with v2.5 winning in most comparisons. The gaps were largest in R&B, soul, hip-hop, rock, metal, orchestral, and film scores.

Licensing has also been relaxed. Free users can download 5 lossless songs per day, and generated content can be used commercially, but it must be labeled "Made with ElevenMusic"; Pro users get 400 lossless downloads per month, do not need to add a label, and can also release songs to streaming platforms. The permissions obtained when a work is created will not change later due to downgrades or unsubscribing. Works adapted from other artists' songs cannot be downloaded or released externally.

ElevenLabs also made it clear that Music v2 will not be taken offline. Suno recently launched v6 while retiring all previous old models, which sparked considerable dissatisfaction among many longtime users. After hands-on testing, some HN users believed that v2.5 has better sound quality, but they still prefer Suno v5 for musicality.
