BlockBeats reports that on June 17, Aster announced an update to its ASTER tokenomics model, raising the buyback-to-burn ratio to 198%. Starting from 12:00 UTC today, 99% of Aster's daily platform fees will be used to buy back ASTER, while an equal amount of ASTER will be burned from the reserve, matching burns at a 1:1 ratio based on the buyback amount. Aster stated that the ASTER proceeds from the repurchase will be distributed to stakers. In each epoch, the buyback amount will be added to Loyalty Rewards, which consists of 300,000 ASTER base rewards plus buyback amounts, and will be allocated according to veASTER stake-up weight. Burns will prioritize the team's allocation portion. The initial total supply of ASTER is 8,000,000,000 tokens, with burns continuing until the total supply drops to 3,000,000,000. Aster stated that buybacks will be automatically executed daily via TWAP and settled on-chain, with both buybacks and burns publicly verifiable. Additionally, each permissionless listing project on Aster Spot requires a fee of 50,000 USDT, which will be used to buy back ASTER and distributed as extra staking rewards.
