ENS DAO officially established a foundation through a proposal to strengthen decentralized domain name ecosystem governance

Odaily Planet Daily reports that ENS DAO has voted to approve the "Next Era of ENS DAO" proposal and completed on-chain execution, officially establishing the ENS Foundation to advance the ENS ecosystem into a new governance phase. According to the proposal, the ENS Foundation will become a fully operational organization, equipped with a full-time executive director, a professional team, and a board of directors composed of 5 members. It will be responsible for institutional work related to ENS in legal, policy, standards development, and brand protection aspects. ENS stated that over the past nearly ten years, ENS has developed into a key infrastructure of the Ethereum ecosystem, with millions of registered domains and integration by numerous wallets, applications, and Layer 2 networks. However, the DAO itself lacks legal entity status, making it unable to effectively participate in internet naming system governance, sign institutional cooperation agreements, hire full-time employees, maintain trademark rights, or engage in regulatory discussions. The newly established ENS Foundation aims to fill this gap. The foundation will be responsible for: 1. Representing ENS in internet standards organizations such as ICANN, IETF, and W3C to promote recognition and management of the ".ens" top-level domain (TLD); 2. Participating as a legal entity in policy discussions and communicating with regulatory agencies and government departments; 3. Holding and protecting ENS trademarks and intellectual property rights, combating phishing and impersonation; 4. Hiring full-time staff responsible for ecosystem operations, funding programs, and fund management; 5. Serving as the official cooperation entity between traditional institutions such as registries and standards organizations and the ENS ecosystem.
