YFI is the governance token of Yearn Finance. It is used to vote on protocol decisions and treasury allocations, with holders able to lock their tokens to receive veYFI for increased voting power. The veYFI mechanism adapts Curve's vote-escrow model, requiring longer lock periods to gain more influence over governance and access to boosted yields on vault deposits.
